General Carpenter

Position Summary

SG Builders is seeking a skilled and highly adaptable Rough Carpenter to support structural framing and general carpentry operations on high-end custom residential projects. This role requires a carpenter who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, shift priorities as needed, and maintain strong production and quality standards in the field.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, physically capable, and flexible in supporting evolving jobsite needs and schedules.

Core Responsibilities

Rough Carpentry

  • Perform wood framing including walls, floors, and roof systems

  • Install structural components per plans and specifications

  • Layout framing based on drawings and field conditions

  • Install blocking, backing, and miscellaneous carpentry items

  • Assist with exterior sheathing and weather barrier prep

Field Flexibility (Critical Requirement)

  • Shift between tasks and projects as priorities change

  • Support finish crews when schedule requires

  • Assist with material staging and jobsite setup

  • Adapt to plan revisions and field adjustments

  • Step in to support concrete, siding, or general carpentry scopes as needed

Layout & Production

  • Read and interpret plans and framing details

  • Verify dimensions and elevations in the field

  • Maintain plumb, level, and square tolerances

  • Work efficiently to meet production goals

  • Identify conflicts early and communicate with supervision

Material & Tool Management

  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order

  • Stage framing materials by area and sequence

  • Minimize material waste and damage

  • Coordinate with Yard Manager on material needs

Qualifications

  • 3+ years rough carpentry or framing experience preferred

  • Proven ability to work across multiple scopes and changing priorities

  • Strong understanding of residential framing practices

  • Ability to read plans and framing layouts

  • Proficient with framing tools and equipment

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in active jobsites
